Movie Nights on Fountain Square - 2009

Movie Night on the Square starts this Saturday with the showing of Run Fatboy Run in honor of this weekend's Flying Pig Marathon. The movie is scheduled to start at 7:30pm (previews start at 7pm) and has a 100 minute running time.

The weekly movie nights will run every Saturday from now through September 12th (no movies on 5/23 or 9/5 due to the Taste of Cincinnati and Oyster Fest). Most nights include two movies with a 7:30 and 9:30 showing.

The event is free and open to the public, and people are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and pillows. Adult beverages, soft drinks and movie snacks are also available for purchase. Also available throughout the 2009 season are Skyline Chili cheese coneys, soft pretzels, nachos, candy bars and kettle corn.

Highlights of this year's movie schedule include The Dark Knight (8/15), Independence Day (7/4), Antz (8/8), Bee Movie (8/22), Jurassic Park (5/16) and E.T. (9/12). See the full schedule of movies here.

wow, that schedule is pretty heavy on sci fi & super hero stuff. You can sit downtown and watch cities get creamed all summer !
I'd think showing the movies on festival nights would be a good idea, tho. People not normally downtown would see there is more going on than just the periodic festival.

As long as the Shadow Hare is there to protect us during Dark Knight, I'll attend and feel safe.

I love movie nights on Fountain Square!!
People, if you think you're going to stroll in there as the movie starts and find a spot to sit think again, these movies have been heavily attended the last two summers.
beer cart for the adults, popcorn for the kids, Papa Johns and City Cellars serving pizza, get down there early for a good spot.

Independence Day was a big hit last summer, an ex-fighter plane pilot president saves the world.
HMMMMM...who could they have modeled that on?
LOL

Tine Lane,

Yup there's definitely an Oyster Fest held on Fountain Square. You also just missed the 23rd Annual Oyster Festival hosted by Washington Platform in downtown Cincinnati. If you like oysters that is the place to get them in Cincinnati.

You should try to make it to next year's Oyster Festival at Washington Platform:
