Oktoberfest Zinzinnati: 2007

Ah...yes, Oktoberfest is back. Everyone's favorite German festival is about to kick off this weekend. Get ready for bratwurst, bier, wiener schnitzel...oh and did I say bier? This is all part of Cincinnati USA's larger Zinful Weekend.

But, back to the main event...Oktoberfest. This is the second largest Oktoberfest celebration in the world (outside of the original in Munich). The weekend event will attract around 500,000 people and take place in the core of Downtown Cincinnati. Here are some of the details, and for any other information you can check out the event website.

When: Event: Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, 11 a.m.-midnight; Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Where: On 6 blocks of Fifth Street; from Race Street to Broadway in Downtown Zinzinnati.

Ugh. On the "Zinful Weekend" website , the Visitor's Bureau has the Creation Museum as one of the attractions. Not only that, it states the "museum" provides "significant, life-altering events from the past, illuminating the effects of Biblical history on our present and future world."

I feel a big, nasty email to Cincy USA coming on.

Ms. 5chw4r7z was mad as hell when she saw the Creation Museum listed. I guess these places must sign themselves up.
But since we're two blocks away we'll be there the whole time. Look me up and I'll post a picture of you on my blog.

I too was disappointed in the Creation Museum bit, but I guess if people from outside the region are coming here and spending their money here, then good.

Obviously I would prefer it to be at the CAC or something cool, but it is new money being filtered into the region...and that is the ultimate goal of the CVB.
