Fountain Square Dazzles!

In case you have been living under a rock lately...Downtown Cincinnati continues to make great progress and the Fountain Square transformation continues to dazzle. Sometimes pictures are just better than words...so check out this recent photo thread of Fountain Square by montecarloss from UrbanOhio/CincyImages. Here is a teaser:

I have been down to see it in person (once during RiverFest) and it is absolutely spectacular. I can't wait until the café/restaurant is finished and all of the construction plywood is gone permanently. I was skeptical of the bright rainbow colors at first, but they look amazing at night. During the day, the frosted white façade is very elegant. Anyone who says that the renovation didn't work, just look at the photos being taken of it anymore. You can't get one without people in it unless you go at like 4 in the morning...but then again, you're not allowed on the Square at that time!

I love the square and was down there over the weekend. There were HUNDREDS of people watching a movie on the square and hundreds more going in and out of the surrounding establishments. It was good to see different demographics hanging out in the same place enjoying themselves.

I have to say that I am not a big fan of the colored light show. I think it is a bit tacky and looks a little like 70's Vegas. I think white backlighting would be more elegant most of the time and then have the light show every now and then (during holidays, events, etc.)

I have now been to all of the eating establishments on the square except Mortons. Anyone been there yet? How does it compare to the old one?

Don't get me wrong, overall it looks so much better than it ever has before.

Via Vite is going make all the difference when it opens.

Someone did a little write up on their experience at the new Morton's location. You can read that write up from UrbanOhio here:

I just thought I'd say how terrified everyone looks to be downtown after dark. It truly looks to be a dangerous environment that should feared by all.

Go Cincinnati...

I still think that Broomball on the square is the best idea ever...

I'm pissed off I dont live there anymore for that reason alone...
